The Confederation of Employers of Ukraine presented the complex guide on employment of people with disabilities. It is part of the "Together" project, which includes 4 more components – the e-platform, analytical system, overview of the best international experience and videos with national best practices of people with disabilities employment. The project was implemented with the support of the International Labor Organization.
"We named the project "Together" because the employment of people with disabilities is an issue that must be resolved by three parties: state, business and employees with disabilities," said Oleksii Miroshnychenko, President of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine.
The slogans of the project are: "learning", "cooperating" and "overcoming barriers".
"All parties must learn. Business knows little about people with disabilities, there is a huge lack of necessary information. People with disabilities have to learn and offer themselves on the labor market. There should be cooperation in hearing each other. There are enough barriers in Ukraine that need to be overcome, in particular, the prejudice that a person with a disability cannot be effective. Another example is an insecurity of a person with a disability in his/her abilities," said Oleksii Miroshnychenko.
Oksana Medvedska, Executive director of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine, said that the goal of the "Together" project is to help employers to employ people with disabilities.
"The Guide contains all necessary information on employment of people with disabilities - from general provisions, basic information to information on benefits and incentives for employers. All information is collected in our Guide, which describes the entire procedure from searching for candidates to employment. The guide is placed on the "Together" platform, where it will be constantly updated," Oksana Medvedska added.
Olena Stepanenko, an expert of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine and one of the authors of the Guide, noted that the Guide was released in two versions - full and basic. The basic version could be of interest to those employers and HR professionals who want to have a general idea of the system. The full version contains practical advice and examples on employment of persons with disabilities, calculations, etc.
